Food Literacy Project Speaker Series: Shifting Mindset from Recyclable to Recirclable

Location: CGIS South, Room S250

Local reusable container program, Recirclable, is "on a mission to provide eco-conscious consumers and restaurants the opportunity to reduce waste by offering reusable containers for takeout as an alternative to single use containers."

"The seed was planted in the founders' minds for a long time, having lived in Europe and experienced the impact of several emerging reusable programs there. The pandemic made the necessity in our communities even more apparent: as we supported our local businesses, our cupboards filled with plastic containers, many of which are not recyclable. We also learned that compostables aren't the solution, as they can have greater environmental impacts than single use alternatives. We wanted to support our local businesses, but without the environmental cost due to waste."

Meet co-founder, Margie Bell, and learn about the challenges and opportunities of starting a reusable container program. SIGN UP HERE.
